She is an ex-cop who worked several years for the forensic institute of the NYPD until the CDC found a better use of her talent. During the fieldwork she is the eyes and ears of the scientists, leading them to the points of interest. She has an inner feeling for the for the "What has happened" and is able to reconstruct the past with very few traces. Some people consider her as an incarnation of Sherlock Homes - sometimes she even seem to have his arrogance. She is a very quick thinker and does not fear to tell other people why they are dump. People who know her better tend to ignore her needlings.

Liu is a somewhat underdeveloped primary character. She never had a chance to proof her real talents in this story.
